The Serengeti Connection:
Karen Hoy was based mainly in the Serengeti National Park as principle sound recordist and creative supervisor on African wildlife films. Films included The Leopard Son (production 1993 to 1995 and released in 1996), and Serengeti Symphony (1998) for wildlife filming pioneer and director Hugo van Lawick and the Discovery Channel.

She was Specially Commended in the International Welsh Poetry Competition 2015; and appears in Mslexia; Sixfold; My Mother Threw Knives (Second Light Publications 2006); Highly Commended in the BBC Wildlife Magazine’s Nature Writer of the Year competition (2009); as well as haiku and tanka in Lakeview International Journal of Literature and Arts Vol.1, No.2 August 2013; Presence; Snapshot Press; and Blithe Spirit.
Karen is the Call of the Page Course Director, as well as a tutor in her own right. In 2006 Karen founded the TV development company Gilded Lily having previously worked on documentaries and wildlife films for the BBC, National Geographic, the Discovery Channels and other leading broadcasters.
